CV / Prof. Carlo Monaco

Carlo Monaco is Associate Professor and Director of the Master in Prostheses and Implant Prostheses at the Department of Surgery, Medicine and Dentistry at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. He holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Bologna (1992). After graduation he had worked as a scholarship holder at the Division of Restorative Dentistry (1994-1996) and Prosthodontics and maxillo-facial rehabilitation (1996-2000) of the University of Bologna. He spent three years (2000-2003) at Division of Cariology School of Dental Medicine, University of Geneva, Switzerland for a Ph.D program. In 2003 he was invited by Prof. Ivo Krejci as a visiting researcher to the Division of Cariology of the University of Geneva in Switzerland.  In 2000 he obtained the Master and in 2005 the Ph.D in Dental Materials at University of Siena. He received several national (AIOP 2005, 2008; 2010) and international awards (ConsEuro; 2008; Rochette 2016). In 2003 he obtained another Ph.D in Dental Materials focused on zirconia at the Department of Engineering materials at University of Bologna. He has held numerous continuing education courses in Italy and Europe. He has also been a reviewer of several scientific journals. He published over 80 papers and book chapters in national and international journals. In the last twenty years he developed with Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli new clinical approaches regarding the relationship between new dental materials, periodontics and implant dentistry above all in the esthetic area.
